Cashmerette Appleton Round up

2nd version of the Appleton

I’ve made the Cashmerette Appleton three times, once about two years ago and two this year.  You can’t go wrong with a comfy knit wrap dress and while I had the pattern out, it made sense to batch sew a few.  I’ve been sewing a bunch of essentials and a wrap dress should be added to this list.  You can make them with sleeves or sleeveless.  You can wear with these dresses with a sweater or jacket (denim, moto or blazer), you can wear it with sandals, heels, or sneakers; this dress is versatile.  Here’s a link to the original review of the dress.

Changes to the last two versions:

  • I made a straight twenty although I fit the 18 E/F cup, the 20 gave me a little more room, yall know I don’t like stuff too close fitting.
  • I narrowed the neckline about 1.5″.  I’m a slight pear so having a wider shoulder balances me out a bit and I felt the adjustment anchored me and gave my shoulders the support to hang the weight of the dress.
  • I did a bicep adjustment and made three quarter inch sleeves length.
  • I lengthened an inch or so above the waist and an inch at the hem, I’m 5’9″.
  • The red polkadot version was cover stitched on the hems. I dusted off the cover stitch machine and found a place for it on a table so it will get used.
  • Both front pattern pieces are the same size (the wider one), it made cutting easier and gave a little more coverage across the front.
For all three versions, I used  ITY/DTY knit fabrics.

Here are some more views of the dresses for those that want to see different angles:

That’s it, three fantastic dresses that IMO are timeless.  The retro print version and the polkadot are seasonless, but I guess you could wear florals in the fall/winter if you wanted to.  I was thinking of trying the hacked top version and I may since it would look super cute with light weight shorts/ pants.
