Another Simplicity 1279 in Classic White

Need a necklace

I just want to document #3 of Simplicity 1279.  This shirt pattern is my boo and I really like the fit.  If you follow me on instagram, in my stories I share a lot of how my projects look and my thoughts way before I blog about it.  I’ve been on a shirt making kick and, as I work through my wardrobe essentials, this had to made.

The only change I’ve made from the this version was adding the button band to the front bodice and leaving off the collar.  I used Simplicity 8014 to give me an idea of how I wanted to do that.  I jacked that up (insert eye roll) but I made it work LOL.  I used the princess seamed version as that’s my favorite and now I think it’s time to trace this on some oak tag so it can be used as a block.  I left off the collar because initially I stained it when I pressed it on the point turner/clapper my hubby made me.  I ordered more fabric, but the sheerness made me not want to put anymore into it so I finished it without the collar.  I would like to work on the back, right now it’s gathered into the back yoke and I’d like to try a version that has princess seams in the back so that’s my next project.
I didn’t get a close up of the vent
I used a Robert Kaufman light weight poplin for this version.  This fabric is semi sheer and I have to wear a cami with the shirt.   It looks good with a silky cami so it’s fine.  Although I stay stitched the neckline, I’m sure I stretched it out fiddling with the collar and band.  I’ve washed it and it’s still a little big (insert shrug).  I have some stretch sateen coming that promises to be opaque so I will make this one more time with the collar for good measure.  I’m still trying to decide if I want the same back or a different back.  Also, I don’t know why I didn’t wear a necklace with this, I blame the photographer LOL.  After looking at the pictures, I realized if I wear it open, it would look nice to fill that space with a statement necklace.
This skirt was made months ago (insert triple eye roll) but I never wore it or blogged it, not sure why, it was in a pile of stuff LOL.  This skirt is from my skirt block, it is a basic pegged hem pencil skirt with a facing and lapped zipper.  I used Petersham ribbon (the real grosgrain stuff) as the facing and I drafted a cool back vent.  You can read about my skirt block here, the skirt is the same less the lining.
I’m on a roll so hopefully more to follow…
