Simplicity 1279 Button up shirt (photos)

So, I was trying a thing where I didn’t take photos of my makes, but I would use my dress form.  Why you ask?, well,  I don’t want to have to “put my face on” lol, Ok, I said it, pure D Lazy! Most times I don’t want to stop and get dolled up for pictures, OK , I said it!  So, I figured I have a  dressform, welp, folks really wanted to see how my shirt looked on a body.  I had the boss snap a few shots of this and my second shirt that I’ll post about next week.  My white classic button up is delayed due to staining from my pressing surface.  I ordered some more fabric to redo my collar and that should be in three weeks now.

Here’s a link to the original post with all the info on my adjustments and my thoughts.  Next week is my second version which is a chambray twill  that has been modified.  Nothing fancy, but I now have two shirts that I will wear!

May not be fancy, but that's 2 more shirts in your wardrobe and 2 less wardrobe gaps filled. Totally loving this colour on you too

Thank you for "putting on your face" for the picture, I'm sure you're beautiful anytime of the day! I liked the shirt on the dressform but on you I LOVE it! The hot pink color is a great choice on you and the fit is A+! Chambray? You have me hanging on the edge!

That bright pink is beautiful on you! I got a dress form for pictures because it's really hard to set up the camera where it will get a shot, use the remote detonator (which doesn't always work), hope the pictures are in focus, then download them to my computer, edit them so there's more me than background, then they're ready to use….it's hard to not have a photographer. Pictures on you do show a little better how the shirt performs in motion, but the dress form pictures are good for construction details. My point is, do whatever is easy for you! We love seeing your work either way!

This is perfect! The fit is so good and that color is amazing. I would want to make a bunch now that you have that fit figured out. Happy sewing!

This is a beautiful fit! I always struggle with fitted buttondowns because I feel like I’m going to rip the shirt when I use my arms. Have you experienced this? If so, how have you fixed it?

OMG yes, that's why I did the broad back adjustment and made sure I liked the fit of the shoulder and sleeve. I wanted to make sure I had plenty of ease in the sleeve too. I also made sure my armscye was high enough to allow for movement about 5/8" to 3/4" depending on preference from the underarm.
