Pac-Man + M7465

Hello! I’m not usually one for nostalgia or novelty prints, but who can pass up a Pac-man inspired print?? I purchased this fabric from Fabric Mart and I really like it, it’s a good mid-weight ITY. My sewing friend from the blog Dressmaking Debacles made this dress a few times and it looked too good for me not to take the pattern out of the donate pile! This is a super old pattern but it’s super cute and comfortable! I will make this again and again because you can’t go wrong with this style of dress.

I made view C which is the dolman sleeve pull on dress with elastic waist and scoop neck. I wouldn’t change anything about this dress! For the bodice, I did a pivot and slide FBA and I lowered the side seam circle 1 “, this gave my bicep more space. Lowering the circle on this style of bodice (dolman) is typical for me. For the skirt pattern, I lengthened it 1.5″ and added 1” to the hip grading to nothing at the waist. That’s it, those where the only adjustments I made.

We’ve talked about the good, let’s talk about the bad and the ugly. The size 22 is the largest in this size range (47.5″ finished bust and 47.5″ finished hip measurements) so it doesn’t have the most inclusive sizing, but that is typical for McCalls. I’ve had this pattern in my stash for at least four years and I almost didn’t say what pattern it was because of it’s limited sizing. Instead, I chose to rate it based on it’s sizing and I’d say a C- for sizing. My rating system is something I just thought up so there’s no industry standard or rational for my rating lol. Anyway, I need more space in the front even with a knit, I don’t like tight clothes but I do like fitted clothes so I usually need adjustments even with knits. Lot’s of people depend on negative ease or the stretch of knit but I don’t typically because of how I like to wear my clothes.

So, that’s it for now.
