Sleeveless Pembroke Dress

Here’s another make from Sew camp.  I love the Pembroke dress, and the fabric is from the FabricMart brick and mortar.  This fabric is a double knit/lace overlay knit, I brought this back to the B &B from our FabricMart trip and I it was really easy to sew.  I enjoyed getting the pictures taken in this all around the B&B, Thanks Carolyn!

In my haste to make this, I forgot to do a broad shoulder adjustment (insert eye roll).  I had a Tim Gunn moment and made this work!  The shoulder was way too short, so I made a design decision, I didn’t have enough fabric to recut soo, I left off the sleeve and took in the side seams just a bit.  I also did forward shoulder adjustment.   Other than that, I cut a straight 20 C/D cup, I typically cut an 18 C/D cup graded out at the hips but this fabric didn’t have as much stretch as I needed.  I added a 1/2 inch to the hip just to give me some room, y’all know I don’t do tight.

My arm hole is a little wavy, so I may add a little clear elastic to tighten it up or add a band, however, I have no more fabric for a band, so that’s not an option (insert triple eye roll).  I washed and steamed to see if it will snap back.  I know, I know, I’m hyper analyzing things, I’m sure it’s fine, It’s just me other thinking!

Until next time, I’m back to working on my skirt block so I’m excited to try some new pattern designs.  I’m no longer buying skirt patterns that don’t come in my size range (Kanye shrug), I’m now trying to figure out how to develop the designs I want, I’m smart right??  I need to trust my instincts and just work through the process, it doesn’t have to be exact, it just has to be what I want.  I have tons of books, I can figure it out!!  If you’re interested in my process, stay tuned.
