I’ve made another TNT pattern- Peplum addition

As promised, I’m back with the Cashmerette Rivermont Peplum top. Last week I blogged about my fifth Rivermont dress I sewed, and I want to share the top view of the pattern. I received this fabric from my friend Gaylen, and it’s Nicole Miller Scuba remnant, it is such a lovely print. Gaylen gifted me this fabric a few years ago and I had every intention of making pencil skirt out of it. I can typically get a knit pencil skirt from about 1.5 yards of 60″ wide fabric. I needed more tops in my wardrobe so I decided to squeeze a top out of the fabric instead.

I took a bunch of photos with the same bottom and shoes for ease, and I like that approach because it shows how my garments all coordinate with one another. Also, I get lazy when it comes to taking pictures. I like sewing a few things and taking all the pictures at one time. You will see this skirt and boots again LOL.

I really like the print and weight of this fabric, I paired the top with a denim skirt and boots but it’s so versatile and will go with most things in my closet. Who doesn’t love a good neutral? As good as peplums look on me, I only have one in my closet that I’ve made, and I rarely wear it, not sure why. Sometimes, using a TNT (Tried and True) patterns are just what you need to feel accomplished and satisfied with a make. I’m all for trying new things, and challenge yourself, but I think there is a misconception that being challenged, and prolific in sewing means sewing all the things (different and new things). I believe there are ways you can breathe new life into patterns you love, using different fabrics, trims, techniques, hacking, etc.. Also, after all the piping I sewed for my Carolyn Pajamas (I think I’ll blog that next), I needed an easy sew.

The bodice has side and waist darts and a neck facing so it’s a pretty straight forward sew. If you want to read about my adjustments, read this blog post; the Rivermont Peplum top has the same bodice as the dress view with a peplum piece. I really like the length of the top, I added two inches to the peplum pattern piece so it would hit me at a nice spot, and as always, the bust fit is 👌🏾. Double knits are so easy to wear, I just love them.

I think I would like this peplum in a v-neck, hmmm, I think I’ll add that to my list of things to sew. So, are you a one and done sewist/seamstress when it comes to sewing patterns, or do you sew them up multiple times? Lastly, have you every made more than one view from a pattern?
