Me and Belle

When I saw this dress on IG, I thought, what a nice looking dress, you can thank KS_Sews for this! There are a few things I like and a few things I will change.  I also have lots of pics with the family dog and some real background pics.  So, what do I like?  I really like the shape of this, it has a center back seam, a slight swing to the hem and cute ties.

When I made view b with view a’s sleeves and I cut the largest size, size 22 (insert eye roll).  It would be nice if this came in a larger size but, yeah.  I did a cheater FBA by grading the bust up two inches and then the waist up another four inches.  I don’t like negative ease at the waist and hip since I have a big belly and wide hips.  I like knits to skim not cling and I can always take in so I give myself a just in case seam allowance.  I also lengthened one inch above the waist and this lowered the ties marking, ugh, I serged the side seam before I noticed, oh well, they are a bit lower than I’d like.

There were attack bees out so my photos are crazy lol, but that’s ok.

What I don’t like is what I did with the ties, the fabric I used, a rayon lycra with good weight.  However, the wrong size was white so that makes the ties different colors.  I also used the longer ties and with knits, it felt too heavy, if I make again, I’ll use the shorter tie from view c for left and right.  I also may not hem the ties, I felt it made them bulky.  Lastly, I tried this on a lightweight rayon and the gathers pulled quite a bit so I don’t think this will be good with a lightweight knit for me.  I want to try view a and also make view b again without the ties.  I really like the back shaping and the overall fit.

So more pictures of me and Belle will come later, I’m sure, when I’m out she likes to play.  I’m looking for a good weight fabric to make this again, I really like it!
