Another Springfield Top and A Slow Sewing Project

In an effort to blog more, I make more than I blog here’s a quick make from Cashmerette.  I made the Springfield top quite a bit and it’s my go to for sleeveless designs.  The armhole and neckline fit great so I don’t have to worry about that.  The only thing I changed from previous versions is I did my forward shoulder adjustment and I lowered the bust dart.  Initially, I lowered the bust dart an inch, but I need more like 5/8″.  Finally, I graded to the 20 at the hip as per my measurements at the side seams only to give more room at the hip.

When I cleaned up my fabric and remnants a few weeks ago, I came across this piece (cotton lawn) that was almost a yard and a half!  I made this shirt (S8454) with this fabric the first time and the fabric was a pre-cut from FabricMart!

That’s it, I realized I like the Springfield in fabric with fantastic drape as opposed to stiffer fabrics, so rayon challis, silk and certain cotton lawns are my favorite.  I finished up a few projects that I need to get pictures of, but I want to work on this blazer  (S1421) so I’m starting flat pattern measurements and deciding on fabric.  I want a French inspired light weight blazer so no rush, but I’ll be getting stuff together so, a nice slow project working in between some other projects.

Inspiration for an everyday casual French Chic blazer.  Not sure about welt pockets.
