Moto Jacket Featured in Sewn Magazine Butterick 6169
OMG ya’ll. I don’t even know what to say about this! I hope you got your copy of Sewn Magazine, cause if you didn’t you missed out! Sewn is a sewing and DIY magazine with a fantastic and talented group of contributors. I had the honor of being featured in this issue and I’m coming up in the next issue as well! I’m beyond humbled for the experience, I’d like to thank Michelle of the blog That Black Chic for the opportunity!
To see the tutorial of how I modified this jacket, check out Sewn magazine. I modified this classic moto jacket for spring, all I need is my fascinator and I’m ready for spring, Mother’s day and the Kentucky Derby! I used a pink jacquard fabric and gold buttons from Joann’s fabric to make this jacket. I graded up the bust, waist and hip to get the look I was going for. There’s so much you can do with this moto jacket! I chose this pattern because it was sleek and it didn’t have all the traditional hardware of other moto jackets, I wanted a classic simplistic look. This pattern received great reviews on pattern review and it’s very popular.

I have like four moto jackets in my closet, I really love them, they add a little to each outfit and the styling options are endless. You can rock this with a dress like I did or with joggers/ jeans and a white t shirt or better yet, rock it with a sequin jumpsuit, you can’t go wrong!
I hope you enjoyed the magazine and I hope you keep an eye out for all the DIY goodness!

Wow – this is gorgeous! I recently purchased that pattern with no specific thought about fabric or when I want to make it…you are inspiring me to look at this sooner than later. It's really so lovely and flattering to you.

Thanks Bernice! I picked this one because it didn't have all the hardware of a traditional moto jacket, it has clean lines. I think I may make the dress too!

Loving your jacket! Actually I love the entire outfit, right down to the shoes, but I can almost see it looking fabulous with jeans too.
