Pattern Review: S1012+ Vintage pattern and African print

Dont you just love vintage patterns?  I made this for a challenge and struggled with pairing fabrics.  I went with a bold print, I didn’t want it to look too much like the pattern envelope, I wanted it to POP!  I was surprised this fit without tons of adjustments.  This pattern was in the purge pile, you know I’m trying to trim my pattern stash, but hey why not try some of them out first right?  OK, on to the review..

Pattern Description:

Step back to the 1960s—this vintage dress has neckline variations. Make
it retro (which is modern again) in color blocked panels and collars or
go classic in a single fabric/color. Vintage Simplicity sewing pattern.

SEWING LEVEL: Advanced beginner

SIZING:20w-28w.  I cut a size 24W

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, follow the directions closely so your points will be sharp.  I found no errors.  Also, mark your pattern pieces so you don’t get confused like me.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?

I like the 60’s vibe and the options for pattern mixing.

Fabric Used:
African print 100% cotton

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:

I cut size 22 at the neckline and shoulder and graded to a size 24 at bust, waist and hip.  I did a forward shoulder adjustment and added two inches to the hem.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?  I may, not sure, if I do, I’ll make it  an inch or two shorter and add sleeves.  Also, I may make it in a Ponte/double knit.
