I’m super late on this review, this was posted to social media almost three weeks ago! I’m my own boss, so there is not time frame, but I do like to get the reviews out the same day I post to social media. Even if the garment is simple, I want you, my wonderful readers to have some info on the pattern and the fit. You know me, I get into my mode of sewing and I hate to stop what I’m doing to blog. I know I should, because it’s super helpful for you guys and me!
I make items more than once and I have a notebook of all of my changes, but I like to see how I styled what I made etc. My notebook is in shorthand so my blog post have more information that I can actually read and understand. With my chicken scratch handwriting, I should have been a doctor! OK, so the romper/jumpsuit is trending now, but I’ll tell you, making pants/shorts is not my strong suit. You’re dealing with front rise, back rise, crotch depth, crotch length, wedgies, thighs eating the fabric, ugh!! So, when something gives me this much trouble, I need to figure it out, I can’t keep running from it. There are so many things to learn with sewing, that I never get bored.
In this review you are getting a two for one. I made the jumpsuit and then I made a top using the same pattern.
On to the review:

Soft shorts are from Lane Bryant |
Pattern Description:
Very loose-fitting pull-on rompers and jumpsuits have elastic at waist, neckline and sleeve variations. B: Self sash. D: Contrast lower sides and purchased piping.

SEWING LEVEL: Beginner
SIZING:XL
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
For the romper yes, I lengthen the shorts.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, I feel they are easy enough for a beginner to understand, I found no errors or confusing instructions.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the ease of the pattern and the trendiness. I like all the views you get with this pattern to include the flounce and sleeve options.. The pattern doesn’t have pockets, but that’s really not a deal breaker.
Fabric Used:
I used a lightweight chambray for the jumpsuit and for the top, I used an eyelet underlined in ITY knit.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
For the romper, I made view c in size XL, my measurements put me in the XXL, but with amount of ease in the bust and hip for the finished garment, I didn’t need to size up. I adjusted the back crotch length 5/8″ and Lengthened the hem by cutting it at the lengthen and shorten line. The finished bust ease for the XL was 54 1/2″ and my bust is 46″, finished hip for the XL is 55″ and my hip measurement is 49″.
For the top, I made view b. I measured down 10″ from the top of the romper (not making the romper and making a rectangle) on the front and back bodice pieces to make the top the length I wanted. I followed the romper directions for adding the elastic at the waist.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, and yes. I don’t have to worry about fiddling with the fit so this works. If I make the view with the flounce, I will have to lengthen the flounce roughly 2-3″ to go over my bust. I would recommend measuring your crotch on the jumpsuit and romper, the crotch is short to me. On the pattern envelope, you will notice the model’s crotch is a tad tight.
I want to hear from you, are you making rompers/jumpsuits this summer?
