Pattern Review: Cashmerette Concord T-Shirt

Hi ya!  It’s summertime and we are in full swing, I’m busy with family stuff, work and sewing.   I’ve been consistent lately, but I will tell you, I hate stopping to do “housekeeping”.  I need to stop and do housekeeping because my patterns are a mess, and I’m behind on my reviews.  **sigh** I tend to do a lot and then crash and burn, especially if something I make doesn’t come out right.  I obsess about what I’ve made, the fit, pictures, etc… and I won’t do my admin/ review stuff, it’s stressful!  Also, I’ve moved recently and that threw me off my schedule. I’m working on it, getting some balance and being more flexible with my schedule.

I’m getting back on track and catching up.  I have another review from last month that I need to write and I should be up to date.  Going forward for the month of July, I have a lot of “summer” sewing plans.  You know I like my sewing challenges, and there are a few that I’m excited about.  I plan to tackle the following:

1. Swimsuit and maybe a cover-up
2. Lingerie/ Underwear
3.T-Shirts
4. Maxi Dresses/ skirts

I’ll probably make multiples of the above since I’ve hopefully worked out the kinks of the pattern and I want to get maximum usage.  First up, is the Cashmerette Concord tee.  I’ve modified (hacked) this pattern into a dress, I have a t-shirt cut out and I hope to make a few more in different weights of fabric before I put the pattern up.

On to the review:

Pattern Description:

Meet the Concord, your new favorite tee!
Fully customizable and designed for curves, this knit T-Shirt is a
classic wardrobe staple. Choose from three hem lengths (cropped,
mid-length or long curved), three necklines (high, V-neck, or scoop),
three sleeve lengths (short, medium, or long), two sleeve finishes
(cuffed or hemmed), and optional sleeve tabs. Whether you layer them
over jeans on Friday night, or pair them with floral skirts at the
office, you’ll want a closet of Concords!

SEWING LEVEL: Beginner.

SIZING: 12-28 cup size C-H, I cut size 18 C/D cup

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow?

Yes and there is a sew along on the Cashmerette blog found here.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?

Likes:
-Different cup sizes for a knit!
-Hem and length variations
-Sleeve variations
-Neckline variations

Dislikes:
None

Fabric Used: Cotton Interlock

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:

-I altered the length to make a dress adding 12″  at the lengthen shorten line.
-I added a slight flounce to the mid length sleeve using Carolyn’s from Diary of a Sewing Fanatics tutorial found here.
-I made 5/8″ forward shoulder adjustment.
-I graded up the waist and hip to size 20.  The t-shirt is meant to be fitted, but I fall between size 18 and 20 for my waist and hip measurements so I graded up to size 20 for the additional ease.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes,  I love this pattern!  I have a “TNT” t-shirt pattern last seen here, but with all the variations provided with the Concord, this pattern pulled out in front.   I already have  a Concord t-shirt cut out and I plan to make at minimum two more in rayon jersey.  For Cotton Lycra (CL) I graded up to size 20 from bust to hem, for rayon I cut a 18 bust graded out to 20 at waist and hip.

I’d like to hear from you, have you made this pattern?  What are your July sewing goals/plans?
