I’m going through my patterns y’all. I’m going to make the best of these patterns and see if I can make them work. I’ve made a lot of dresses recently and I want to make some more separates so I can get my capsule going. I haven’t officially worked on a capsule or planned one, but I think I will, I feel there’s some value in having workhorse pieces in your wardrobe that you can mix and match. I’m thinking of a summer casual capsule and a basic work capsule or mini wardrobe. The CSC has one going on right now, but in my true form I’m behind. In all fairness, there are so many great things going on , sewalongs, challenges, I want to do them all!!! I do much better when I plan, because if I don’t, I’ll be all over the place.
I guess now’s a good time to figure out what I want to do for June, huh? Ok, ok, I’ll figure it out, I’m sure one of the things I should be doing or not doing is buying more patterns! I’ll leave that for another time… The shorts I’m wearing can be found
here.
On to the review:
Close-fitting, pullover tops have draped front neckline variations, narrow hem on back neckline, and stitched hems. A: Sleeveless and armhole bands. B: Short sleeves. C: Three-quarter length sleeves. D: Long sleeves. I made view B.
SEWING LEVEL: Confident beginner
.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, the Palmer/Pletsch patterns have a wealth of information on technique and fitting, this pattern had eight pages of instruction so, yeah, they are sufficient and easy enough for a beginner to follow. I changed the way the sleeve was sewn, I set the sleeve in flat, right after step 10.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like that the adjustments are printed on the pattern for Full Bust Adjustment (FBA) and swayback adjustment. I didn’t like that the lengthen shorten line was not printed on the pattern.
Fabric Used: I used a slinky ribbed knit in an animal print and a white ITY knit.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
-I cut a size 22 shoulder and neckline grading to a size 24 at bust, waist and hip.
-I did a forward shoulder adjustment
–I set the sleeves in flat
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes and Yes, this is an easy sew with nice variations. I didn’t like the way the ITY version came out, so I may break down and do the bust adjustment. I think this is a good wardrobe staple that can be dressed up or down.
Time: This took me about an hour to sew.

I want to hear from you, what do you think? Have you sewn this pattern, did you like it, do you
have plans to sew it?
