Pattern Review: M7573+ Romantic casual off the shoulder flutter top

I’m channeling my inner Texan with the mix of boots and denim.  I love this light weight gauze and it the pattern is so feminine.  I was concerned that all the layers on this top would be heavy and hot, but it was nice and cool.  I’m very proud of myself for getting some the new spring patterns sewn up, the problem is the fall patterns are sitting untouched.  I can’t help if I get distracted by the new patterns, I guess I can get back to the jeans I’m making or should I work on one of the summer dresses I picked up?  Hummm, decisions…

On to the review:

Pattern Description:

 
Loose Fitting pullover tops have sleeve and yoke options. C: Contrast yokes.  I made view b.

Pattern Sizing:

14-22.  I cut size 22

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow?

Yes, I found no errors.  Make sure you take yocur time and transfer ALL your markings.  I didn’t and I had to realign my straps because the tab in the back was not centered at center back, user error, not an issue with the pattern.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?

 
I really like the romantic layered look.  This pattern is very trendy and I like that it has different views for the shoulder, you can add straps or neck strap or make a full top with yoke.

Double Gauze Chambray Dobby from LA Finch Fabrics.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:

 
*This pattern has 6.5 inches of ease in the bust, for my 46 in full bust I didn’t need a FBA.
*My flounce is almost two inches shorter than the pattern piece, don’t ask me what I did there.
*I did add .5 in to the side seam just in case for my sleeve and didn’t need it
*I added 2 inches to the length as customary for my 5’9″ frame
*I took in about an inch at each side seam from waist to hem to reduce some of the width at the hem, width at bottom edge was 72″
*I finished all seams because gauze does shed.
*I finished the sleeve and hem with my serger and then sewed a 5/8 ” hem, I didn’t want to fuss with a narrow him, I did do the narrow hem for the flounce. 

Would you sew it again? 
Yes, I will make this in a nice challis with lace for a nice evening top or maybe extend this to a dress, I have a few Ideas.

Next go round: 
*This was my wearable muslin and I need add a little more length next time. 
* I will also add a little to the sleeve, it was a bit snug, but just a smidgen.
* Next time I may grade to a size 20 or 18 at waist and hip, the width at lower edge was 72″
*I need to fix the back tab that the shoulder strap goes through, I didn’t line that up properly and it tugs a little.

Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, I really, really like this, and the hubby says it looks great, shows just the right amount of skin.
