Pattern Review: M7505+ the dress

This is my wearable muslin and a case of over fitting.  This dress is wonderful and simple, I started messing with getting the fit closer and closer, until it was too close and the sleeve wouldn’t fit right.  I serged before putting the sleeve so there wasn’t much seam allowance for me to mess with but that’s what I get for not leaving well enough alone.  I have already made adjustments and cut this out to be sewn again.  Lesson learned, measure before sewing, spread measurement over all seams equally and baste.

Pattern Description:

Semi-fitted through the bust dresses have back zipper, French darts and long trumpet sleeves. B: Lace overlay. I made view A.

Pattern Sizing:

16-22 I cut 22

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow?

Yes

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?

Love the swing at the hem,

And the sleeve flounce.

Fabric Used:

Stretch crepe suiting from Fabric Mart.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:

I did a 1″ FBA, the waist and hem had plenty of ease. The dress is super short so I added about 2.5″ to the hem and it hit my 5’9″ frame above the knee. I did a 1″ bicep adjustment. Instead of the hook and eye closure I stitched the top of the keyhole on the back closed since it was loose enough to go over my head. I may just omit the key hole opening in the back. I left off the sleeve flounce because I ran out of fabric, this was my wearable muslin, I tried the flounce on one sleeve and loved it but didn’t take a picture. I will need a 3/4′ to 1″ wide back adjustment and 3/8-5/8″ forward shoulder adjustment, lengthen my normal 2″ on the sleeve and increase the bicep an additional 5/8″. I think I will lower the bust dart if the shoulder adjustment doesn’t lower it slightly. And, I may add another 1″ to the hem.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?

Yes, I love this dress, very flattering I can see this sleeveless for spring.

Conclusion:

I love this dress and will make again, an easy sew and good for beginners.
