Pattern Review: B6367- Tunic

I love super easy patterns that don’t make me cuss!  But me and sleeves are not friends!  I almost slapped this project because my sleeve would not act right.  This is a versatile See and Sew pattern found here, that is great for beginners.

I’m

Pattern Description:

Pullover tunic (semi-fitted through bust) has neck and asymmetrical hemline variations, long sleeves, and narrow hem. A: Left side slit and V-neckline. B: Wrong side shows on hemline and scoop neckline. I made view A.

Pattern Sizing:

18w-32w, I cut a straight 22w

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow?

Yes

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?

I love the lines of this basic tunic, with two neck variations and the asymmetric hems, you can mix and match necklines and hems.

Fabric Used:

Stretch poly crepe from Fabricmart

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:

I sewed this straight out the package after taking my flat measurements, this was my muslin. The pattern had 6″ of ease in the bust so I didn’t need a FBA. I did have to make my sleeves three quarter length since I didn’t add my usual 1.5″ to the sleeve length so they were too short. I didn’t make my usual 2″ hem increase, I’m 5’9″ and most patterns are too short as the are drafted for someone 5’6. Also, I didn’t make a shoulder slope adjustment, the top keep creeping backwards as I moved around and choked me, ugh! I thought I might need to lower the dart, but after assessing the fit I noticed my shoulder seam was falling towards the back making me constantly pull my shirt down, what a pain! ! I need to adjust the shoulders, but I don’t know what adjustment to make. I plan on making this again in different hems, I will add to the sleeve and hem and adjust the shoulders.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?

Yes

Conclusion:

Overall great tunic pattern that’s great for beginners, top only h as three pattern pieces that needed minimal fitting. I got some much needed practice with the v neckline.
