Weird radiating drag lines toward low hip As one of my essentials, a day dress is on the list.  I believe dresses are like suits, they are the complete package.  This dress was soo comfy and the pattern came in my size so, there’s that!  I work in a conservative environment and I don’t like to fuss with my clothes and when I mean fuss, most times, I mean I don’t like to iron LOL.  Although there are a few issues with this “wearable muslin” I wore it and it was fine, I understand most wont see any issues.   Once I wore this to work, the issues seemed minor.  Also,…

  • Simplicity 1279 #2 In Chambray Twill

    September 29, 2019 / 5 Comments

Ok friends, I’ve adjusted my new TNT button up shirt and I believe this is my favorite.  I’ve been thinking if I should adjust the back pattern piece to a princess seam version as well, but I enjoy not having a fitted back so maybe I’ll adjust it later.  My front chest measurement extends a little past my armhole so I may tweak that by shaving a little off from my armhole and then possible add a little to the sleeve.  I’ll have to think about how I want to make that adjustment. I used a chambray twill shirting I got from FabricMart.  I like this fabric because it looks…

So, I was trying a thing where I didn’t take photos of my makes, but I would use my dress form.  Why you ask?, well,  I don’t want to have to “put my face on” lol, Ok, I said it, pure D Lazy! Most times I don’t want to stop and get dolled up for pictures, OK , I said it!  So, I figured I have a  dressform, welp, folks really wanted to see how my shirt looked on a body.  I had the boss snap a few shots of this and my second shirt that I’ll post about next week.  My white classic button up is delayed due to…

I’ve always wondered is there “too many” times you can make a pattern and these days I think no, well for me it’s no.  You may not want to make the pattern exactly the same way each time, but things go so much faster when the fit is ironed out and you know the construction of the pattern.  I’ve made Simplicity 8014 a ton of times and I actually couldn’t find the pattern so I grabbed this one out of the “pre donate pattern pile” (LOL).  Yes, I have pre, pre donate piles as there can be stages to purging for me.  This pattern had cup sizes and, multiple collars…

  • What’s on my table

    September 16, 2019 / 6 Comments

I wasn’t sure if I was done sewing for summer or if I was ready for fall so I just took a break.  I wanted to sew for fall, but wasn’t sure where I wanted to start.    I don’t “need” anything so as I purged my closet for the fall, I thought about what items I would like to add to my wardrobe.  I got rid of lots of t-shirts, cardigans , jeans and tops.  Mostly I purged ready to wear but there were a few items I made.  I never really thought I’d be still sewing, I didn’t start sewing as a kid so I’m not sure when…

  • Are You Ready for Fall Sewing?

    August 4, 2019 / 10 Comments

So, I’m not quite sure what I want to sew, nothing is really speaking to me at this point but there are tons of things I want to make.  During some of the semi annual sales, I purchased lots of work clothes.  I don’t mind ready to wear at all, actually one of the reasons I first start sewing was to alter my clothes.  I purchases some work pants recently and took the waist in and now they fit great.  I really like the weight of the fabric and the recovery.  Sometimes it’s hard for me to find the right weight of fabric, both bottom weight and knit.  My Joann…

  • Cashmerette Holyoke Dress

    July 28, 2019 / 10 Comments

Yay for the Holyoke!  I finished the dress almost two weeks ago, but you know I didn’t have any buttons right? (insert triple eye roll).  Anyway, I don’t know if you remember my ramblings from a few posts ago, but I’m on a “patterns that don’t come in my size fast” (insert eye roll).  So, I’m not loosing anything on my fast, but yet spending my resources and time on those that fit.  Also, I think it’s igniting my creative juices!  I really like the dress, having straps that hide my bra and having a no gaping neckline are the best! stretched the front neckline out putting it on a…

  • Sleeveless Pembroke Dress

    July 8, 2019 / 10 Comments

Here’s another make from Sew camp.  I love the Pembroke dress, and the fabric is from the FabricMart brick and mortar.  This fabric is a double knit/lace overlay knit, I brought this back to the B &B from our FabricMart trip and I it was really easy to sew.  I enjoyed getting the pictures taken in this all around the B&B, Thanks Carolyn! In my haste to make this, I forgot to do a broad shoulder adjustment (insert eye roll).  I had a Tim Gunn moment and made this work!  The shoulder was way too short, so I made a design decision, I didn’t have enough fabric to recut soo,…

    July 3, 2019 / 10 Comments

Carolyn takes the best pictures! I love an easy outfit and these two patterns have endless possibilities.  As I look for basic things in RTW I can help but tell myself, I can make that!  I know, I know, sometimes I just want to buy what I want and others I make it.  I wanted wide legged pants but I wasn’t sure how they would look.  I didn’t want to look like I was wearing a sack, but I figured, If I make them, I can make them however I want, right?  I made these pants at Sew Camp and Carolyn took all the photos! I’ve been seeing pants around…

    June 29, 2019 / 11 Comments

This isn’t all of it, most of had boxes shipped LOL. Soooo, I just came back from Sew Camp at the Carriage Corner B&B.  I had a fantastic time, there were so many great women there, some I know and others I’ve come to know.  I arrived on Thursday, had a cheese steak in Philly and sewed until Monday afternoon.  I was prepared this time, I did good ya’ll, I was begging for fabric to sew because I sewed all mine up LOL.  I stayed in the Dahlia, it’s a fantastic room as all the rooms are and Gaylen and Jay took such good care of us!  I will say,…
