Plus size Pajamas- Which will be better?
There was a lot of work that went into sewing something you sleep in, this is what I told myself as I sewed the yards and yards of piping onto my pajamas. As promised, I’m back with the Cashmerette Rivermont Peplum top. Last week I blogged about my fifth Rivermont dress I sewed, and I want to share the top view of the pattern. I received this fabric from my friend Gaylen, and it’s Nicole Miller Scuba remnant, it is such a lovely print. Cashmerette Webster Dress
I’ve had this dress pattern for years and I’ve never got around to making it. I’ve been sewing more and the thought of warmer weather has helped jumpstart my sew jo. I’m not a fan of PDF patterns because of all the taping and waiting for copy shop packages but I’ve always sewn Cashmerette. Her patterns fit me and I don’t have to do a lot of adjustments to get them to fit me. Shorts, Shorts, Shorts
I have made lots of shorts! I have taken my pants block and adjusted the inseam to create shorts. I’ve made solid, prints, welts, pleat, elastic back and fly fronts with zippers. I’ve used stretch twills, Ankara, tencel, linen, etc., the options are endless. I think if you have a pair of pants that fit, experiment with lengths and make shorts. I know those with larger thighs like mine struggle with riding up between the legs and I find for my thighs, 8″-15″ inseam tends to work for me. DIY Shorts and Top + Lost Cashmerette Concord Dress
I’ve been drafting a lot lately. I’ve used a number of resources for my drafts, but truthfully you could buy a book, take a class or use a good fitting TNT as your block/sloper and experiment. I went through multiple muslins to get my fits refined, there’s only so much you can do on yourself. So, you start from the top and see how it goes. You work one area at a time and you exercise patience. I learned to pinch, pin, tuck and ask questions until I got it right, there is no short cut to fit. Weird radiating drag lines toward low hip As one of my essentials, a day dress is on the list. I believe dresses are like suits, they are the complete package. This dress was soo comfy and the pattern came in my size so, there’s that! Cashmerette Holyoke Dress
Yay for the Holyoke! I finished the dress almost two weeks ago, but you know I didn’t have any buttons right? (insert triple eye roll). Sleeveless Pembroke Dress
Here’s another make from Sew camp. I love the Pembroke dress, and the fabric is from the FabricMart brick and mortar. This fabric is a double knit/lace overlay knit, I brought this back to the B &B from our FabricMart trip and I it was really easy to sew. I enjoyed getting the pictures taken in this all around the B&B, Thanks Carolyn! In my haste to make this, I forgot to do a broad shoulder adjustment (insert eye roll). Cashmerette Ellis Skirt
Mashup of the Springfield top and an OOP dress pattern I purchased the Ellis skirt when it came out and I was super excited to sew this up. I don’t have any denim skirts in my closet, handmade by me or RTW so this was fun. I actually don’t have much denim and I’m not sure why not, I just don’t sew it up much. Sewing round up March-19 Ediition
Well, I’ve been busy! I’ve sewn a few things over the last week or sew, but most of these item’s I’ve sewn before and one was a TNT so it really didn’t take long to make this weeks garments.
