Last Minute DIY Special Occasion Skirt
Hello! It’s been a while, how y’all doing, ya’ll ready for my shenanigans?? My mom asked me to attend a Breast Cancer Awareness Gala and of course I needed something to wear. Now, typically you wear pink for Breast Cancer awareness, but I didn’t have anything “special occasion-ish” that was pink that I’ve made. What to do, what to do, do I pull something together in my closet or do I make something? I’m a person that doesn’t like to sew for an event, it’s too much stress, I like to have things already in my closet that I can wear (dress, jacket, or separtes). My philosophy is, if you…

More Pajamas, which are the best?
I can say, I didn’t enjoy the process of making pajamas because I’m lazy, but I love the results. I know I complained about the piping, but sewing really is about the journey. Out of all the hard things, piping isn’t as challenging as a hand bound button hole, but it wasn’t the zoom, zoom fast sewing either, it took a few extra steps to add piping, and French seams throughtout, but very much worth it. I’m way behind the curve on sewing the Closet Core patterns Carolyn Pajamas. I will tell you, until I started my PDF pattern printing business, I was team commercial patterns. I have a lot…

Plus size Pajamas- Which will be better?
There was a lot of work that went into sewing something you sleep in, this is what I told myself as I sewed the yards and yards of piping onto my pajamas. I told my sewing friends, I’m not making anymore pajamas π. Well, I after I thought about it, I figured, I can make them without all the piping, and they will be fine, so maybe I will make more because the fit on these, and the quality of the fabric is Β π€πΎ. You would be proud, I had the right buttons to sew this shirt, I don’t know why I’m always looking for buttons when it’s time to…

I’ve made another TNT pattern- Peplum addition
As promised, I’m back with the Cashmerette Rivermont Peplum top. Last week I blogged about my fifth Rivermont dress I sewed, and I want to share the top view of the pattern. I received this fabric from my friend Gaylen, and it’s Nicole Miller Scuba remnant, it is such a lovely print. Gaylen gifted me this fabric a few years ago and I had every intention of making pencil skirt out of it. I can typically get a knit pencil skirt from about 1.5 yards of 60″ wide fabric. I needed more tops in my wardrobe so I decided to squeeze a top out of the fabric instead. I took…

The Hot Chocolate Rivermont Dress
I made another Rivermont! The Cashmerette Rivermont dress is a go to work staple for me. I’m not a fan of ironing so shake and go dresses that are cute are my go to. I grew out of the two Rivermont dresses I had in my closet so I decided to make a few more. I make a lot of decision daily so having a “uniform” is very helpful for me when trying to figure out what to wear. I have a few mix and match pieces that work together in my wardrobe and it makes getting dressed so much easier. Liverpool/double knits, and Pontes are favorites, they are so…

2024βs Hidden Gems: Sewing Projects I Never Shared (And My Proudest Makes!)
Hello! Ok, hear me out. I made a lot of promises on Instagram that I would blog about the things I made. I will tell you, I didn’t make that many things and the things I did make, I never took the time to blog about them, does that make me someone who doesn’t tell the truth π π? I’m sure there’s a reason, but the reality is, when I have time, I really, really want to sew π©. I can’t tell you, how many times I wore an item I made, and couldn’t remember anything about the garment, process, fabric, nothing! I mean, that is the entire reason I blog,…

Closet Core Sienna Maker Jacket Review: A Stylish and Functional Jacket
The Closet Core Sienna Maker jacket pattern has been in my stash for a while, and Iβm delighted I made it! Who doesnβt like wearing stylish, well-fitting jackets? Ready-to-wear jackets are typically too short and narrow across the back, so I like making them. I enjoy making jackets because I like wearing them, allowing me to create what I want. I’ve made a few jackets in the last few years; the one that gets the most wear is an anorak-style grey jacket I made a few years ago, see this post. I love the jacket and wear it all the time, but I want more color and something less casual;…

On trend Shacket: Simplicity 9388
It’s been a while since I’ve blogged one of my makes. I wore a jacket the other day and I know I made it, but I couldn’t remember the pattern or the adjustments, ugh! I started blogging to keep track of what I made and also as a reference for the adjustments and my pattern/fabric likes and dislikes. Over the course of the last year and a half I just haven’t prioritized sewing and or documenting my sewing. That crap stops today LOL, I always tell myself I’ll remember what I did, Lies!!! I will not remember at all! I’ve been buying lots of clothes and not finishing my makes,…

Kwik Sew 3586
Hi! I haven’t sewn much Kwik Sew and I’m not sure they are making new patterns but this button front caught my eye. When I purged my patterns I got rid of my S8014 pattern so I drafted a button up shirt pattern. I’m still refining the fit of my draft so I though I would use this pattern in the meantime. It is a basic button front pattern with two views, the sizing on this pattern is semi inclusive and is a solid pattern. If you are not accustomed to working with smaller seam allowances, I would recommend adding just in case seam allowances for fitting. As we get…

Pac-Man + M7465
Hello! I’m not usually one for nostalgia or novelty prints, but who can pass up a Pac-man inspired print?? I purchased this fabric from Fabric Mart and I really like it, it’s a good mid-weight ITY. My sewing friend from the blog Dressmaking Debacles made this dress a few times and it looked too good for me not to take the pattern out of the donate pile! This is a super old pattern but it’s super cute and comfortable! I will make this again and again because you can’t go wrong with this style of dress. I made view C which is the dolman sleeve pull on dress with elastic…
