This is my first time testing a PDF pattern and it was fun! I found out about the opportunity to test a top/dress PDF pattern from Bella Sunshine Designs from the Curvy Sewing Collective’s Facebook group. Pattern Review: V9197 + Floral dress
I feel like a sewing maniac! I’ve tried to complete one garment a week and get me a few things for spring sewn up, I have spring fever! Florals are always appropriate for this time of year so when browsing the web for fabric, I tend to look for florals and nice bold colors and prints. Pattern Review: M7573+ Romantic casual off the shoulder flutter top
I’m channeling my inner Texan with the mix of boots and denim. I love this light weight gauze and it the pattern is so feminine. I was concerned that all the layers on this top would be heavy and hot, but it was nice and cool. I’m very proud of myself for getting some the new spring patterns sewn up, the problem is the fall patterns are sitting untouched. I got the bright idea to try a pattern before the gurus at Pattern Review get a hold to it. What was I thinking? It has been cold her in the Carolina’s, well everywhere actually, it was winter then spring, now it’s winter again! I want to wear a sundress!!! OK, tantrum over, but really, why is it so cold? Top of the Morning! M720+ Emerald green top
I believe the holidays, seasons, etc are good times to make things specific to that time. I used to bake cookies or make traditional meals during the “holiday” but now, I like to sew something that is representative or captures the spirit of the day. I have so many things I want to make and the newness and potential of each pattern calls to me. The rational side of me says, make as many of this one pattern as you can so you can move on to something else. The impulsive side says, cut them all, make them all now!! lol I try not to listen to the irrational side, I always rush through the garments and I end up hating my makes. Pattern Review: Burda 6749+ the perfect T-Shirt
I’d like to keep track of all my ” TNT” patterns on the blog in some way. TNT stands for tried and true, and in the spirit of classic, well fitting garments, I will try to identify which patterns work with my normal flat pattern adjustments. I don’t know why I’m now making this dress but I really like it! I saw Brittany J. Jones’ sew along on YouTube and I didn’t understand how she made six, but now I know. I purchased some Polyester interlock knit from Walmart, with the intention of using it as a muslin. The fabric is semi- opaque and polyester so not breathable but I like the print. Sometimes you just want something easy to sew, this is it. I’m learning how to fit the flat pattern and make design adjustments. I made this tunic and a dress on Saturday and I like the way both turned out. This is an oldie but goodie pattern that has been reviewed 40+ times on pattern Review. Pattern Review: M7261 + Activewear
Alright, I made workout gear for the first time! It wasn’t as hard as I thought but worth the experience. Workout clothes are pretty cheap at Walmart and Old Navy, but I can make the colors I want with the right fit. I used some super awesome compression fabric and funky color blocking, I really like my makes! The compression fabric is super heavy, like scuba fabric so I couldn’t wear this during the dead of summer, but hey, it’s winter and a little chilly out.
