I hadn’t participated in the #sewyourview challenge on Instagram in a while so I decided to put to use some cute fabric in my stash to use. I also wanted something fun and different to wear for my birthday so it was a twofer! That feels weird to say, I don’t have a large stash so, to shop in it was a good feeling. It’s fall and I’m looking to replace my worn out cardigans from last season. I’m not sure, but many of my cardigans look a little beat up these days. I actually wear cardigans all year long because I work indoors and the A/C is always on Arctic so mine need to be replaced more often! Dont you just love vintage patterns? I made this for a challenge and struggled with pairing fabrics. I went with a bold print, I didn’t want it to look too much like the pattern envelope, I wanted it to POP! I was surprised this fit without tons of adjustments. Wow, the summer has flown by and I’ve only sewn a few things!! I have been enjoying my summer so it’s not a complete loss. This on trend tiered skirt has been all over the place. I think this skirt would be cute in a color blocked version, long skirt or as a dress. I’ve seen this tiered look in dresses and they are cute. This is super easy to make if you attach a bodice for an empire or baby doll look. While making this skirt, I asked the question, do I like gathers or pleats in skirts? M7052 + Longer peplum remake
I really like the long peplum look on tops and jackets. I think it adds a nice feature to garments and they are flattering. I’ve been on this “hacking” rampage trying to get the most use out of my patterns. I mean, I’ve spent so much time adjusting them to my body, it just seems wrong to only use the pattern once, right?
