Wide legged pants with a surprise McCalls 7547
I love a little surprise, and I have one with these pants. One of my goals for 2018 is to make pants without elastic at the waist. Now, there’s nothing wrong with pull on pants, but I want to learn how to fit trousers and jeans too. Here’s one of the pants fitting resources I used from Closet Case Patterns. Work out gear McCalls 7482
The start of the New Year and getting healthy is on a lot of people’s mind. It’s on my mind and although I’ve made active wear before, you can see the post here, I wanted to try it again. I’m pretty comfortable when exercising cotton t-shirt and compression leggings. I really like to get outside, the fresh air is always nice. When it gets cold, I like a jacket to throw on over my work out clothes, something that I don’t mind sweating in. I’m very surprised I haven’t made this dress yet! In my defense, I have so many patterns and I love them all, I do forget what I have until I get inspired and start sifting through the pattern bin. Top 5 Highlights 2017
Wow, It’s been an amazing sewing year! Gillian at Crafting A Rainbow has hosted Top 5 for a few years and I just saw it on Instagram. I thought, what a fun way to highlight my top 5 sewing makes. DIY Helmut Lang Inspired sweatshirt McCalls 7688
Hi there! This is the last garment of the year for me so I thought, why not make it twice? This pattern was picked as a part of an Instagram monthly challenge #Sewyourview with @thatsewmonica and @feesewcrafty. DIY Toaster Sweater Simplicity 8529
I really like this sweater, it’s modern and very trendy. It’s also plus when you get an awesome Indie Pattern from a Big 4 pattern company at the sale price. This pattern is a little different from Sew House Seven toaster sweater #2, Simplicity’s pattern has a dropped shoulder. I wasn’t sure if I liked the dropped shoulder but I think for the oversized fit of this top, it works, I think raglan sleeves work better for me. The Simplicity pattern didn’t offer the raglan sleeve option, but I’m OK with the overall style. In any event, you get the same over all effect and everyone is sewing this up…

Sew the Look: DIY Burberry Inspired Cape McCalls 7664
I had a gap in my wardrobe, I needed a casual coat/cape that was good for cool weather and would work for times when I need to run from the car to the house/building. I don’t have a lot of casual coats, but I have tons of jackets, so I knew I wanted something a little heavier than my jackets but not as heavy as my Wool coat. DIY Great Gatsby Dress and Cape
What’s with the getup? I went to a Great Gatsby themed birthday party and let me tell you it was fabulous. The decorations, outfits, music and food were awesome. The theme of the party was Great Gatsby, but we didn’t drink bathtub brew and we didn’t swing, but we did dance a lot! This was a Juke Joint so it was dark, I tried my best with the pictures. November Round Up Part 2: Butterick 6425 and McCalls 7698
Here are the two patterns I made for myself this month, Butterick 6425 and McCall’s 7698. I did a lot of planning for December and I had a lot of family events in November so I was busy, but not with sewing for me. I have lots of personalized holiday gifts for December, a coat/cape, two party dresses, a sweater dress, and some tops/sweaters.
