It slipped my mind that I needed to make something for the holidays to wear, I don’t know how, but it didn’t make it on my white board. It’s time to make a coat Simplicity 1067
I’ve been sewing a few years now and although I don’t “need” a coat, I think it’s a good next step for me to take on this type of project and stretch my skills. I’ve made capes before and jackets, but never a coat. I’ve never applied tailoring techniques to a garment and I just feel now is as good a time as any to give it a try. The make it work top: Butterick 6486
Have you ever started something and through out the process you struggled? That was me with this top. I should have named it the little top that could, or better yet the whining sewist. However, in the end I count it a success! One of my favorite bloggers, Carolyn from Diary of a Sewing Fanatic made this same top and I loved her fabric choice. Pattern Remakes- October Edition
One of my goals has been to go back through my “wearable muslins” and remake them. What’s a muslin and when should you do one? Check this blog post out from Tilly and the Buttons. I spend quite a bit of time making adjustments and it seems like such a waste to only make them once. Pattern Review: New Look 6514-The Robe of Many Colors
I hadn’t participated in the #sewyourview challenge on Instagram in a while so I decided to put to use some cute fabric in my stash to use. I also wanted something fun and different to wear for my birthday so it was a twofer! That feels weird to say, I don’t have a large stash so, to shop in it was a good feeling. It’s fall and I’m looking to replace my worn out cardigans from last season. I’m not sure, but many of my cardigans look a little beat up these days. I actually wear cardigans all year long because I work indoors and the A/C is always on Arctic so mine need to be replaced more often! Pattern Review: S1012+ Vintage pattern and African print
Dont you just love vintage patterns? I made this for a challenge and struggled with pairing fabrics. I went with a bold print, I didn’t want it to look too much like the pattern envelope, I wanted it to POP! I was surprised this fit without tons of adjustments. Hi there! I want to share with you what I’ve made recently. You’ve seen my Upton dress here and Butterick 5529 jacket here. Well, I’ve “hacked” the Upton using Jenny’s hack, you can find the instructions on the hack here. I didn’t make any changes, but I should have.
