About Me

Hi, I’m Laquana, a wife, mother and a transplanted northerner residing in the south.  I love to sew and collect sewing patterns, my goal is to have a stylish, well fitting wardrobe that I’ve handmade.  I enjoy recreating looks from designers/brands that inspire me.

What I like to sew:

As a plus sized sewer, I work hard at fitting the garments I sew to ensure they fit and are flattering.  I enjoy sewing dresses, tops and skirts.   My goal is to recreate classic looks and silhouettes in addition to what’s trending and make it figure flattering for my body type.

Resources:

I really have to credit my Facebook sewing groups, Youtube, Craftsy classes, sewing blogs, Instagram, American Sewing Guild, and pattern review sites for keeping me motivated.   Those resources are invaluable and they continually help me along.  There’s a world of helpful people out there waiting to assist you and that’s just what I needed.  I have over 600 patterns and counting!

Equipement:

My newest machine is a Janome Skyline S7 (May 2018)
Sewing Machine- Singer Quantum Stylist 9960 (May 2012)
Sewing Machine- Singer Heavy Duty 4411
Serger- Brother 1034D
Coverstitch machine- Brother 2340 CV

Sewing space:

I occupy our loft space and I’m excited to make some necessary design changes but I have no clue where to start :).

Thank you for sharing your makes. I have a similar figure( tho I’m shorter) and it is great to see what patterns would really look like and also the reality of the adjustments needed- I’m not so good in that department!
