On trend Shacket: Simplicity 9388
It’s been a while since I’ve blogged one of my makes. I wore a jacket the other day and I know I made it, but I couldn’t remember the pattern or the adjustments, ugh! I started blogging to keep track of what I made and also as a reference for the adjustments and my pattern/fabric likes and dislikes. Over the course of the last year and a half I just haven’t prioritized sewing and or documenting my sewing. That crap stops today LOL, I always tell myself I’ll remember what I did, Lies!!! I will not remember at all! I’ve been buying lots of clothes and not finishing my makes,…

Butterick 5926- Knit Blazer
I’m checking off my wardrobe essentials and I’m on a roll. I made this knit blazer and it’s super comfy. There are tons of reviews out there and I didn’t really look until I was finished but, I like to live on the edge! This pattern is older but still in print, and easy enough to find locally or online. I chose this pattern because it’s made for knits and I didn’t want a tailored jacket, I wanted a comfy casual jacket. I cut the largest size, size 24. and made view D I did a 1/2 vertical FBA adding width from bust to hem. I did a one inch…

Simplicity 8843 Unlined Casual Anorak Jacket
Where is my tripod and clicky thing? I’m soo pleased with this jacket, I believe it’s the fabric, the fabric really elevates this jacket. I’ve seen a lot of cotton jackets and truthfully they are cute but, I wanted drape. For my body, I believe fabric with drape looks great on me so I went looking for a mid-weight fabric designed for jackets that wasn’t super stiff. I didn’t get a swatch of this so I was pleasantly surprised that it had drape. I had a jacket a while a go that had great drape and it had knit sleeves, I still do not know the fabric, but I think…

The Lazy Suit
HI! I told you last week that I had an event to go to and I wanted to make a jacket, wait, was it you I was talking to last week? No, anyway, it had to be IG LOL. Soo, I had a semi formal event to attend and I wanted to sew a jacket to go with my Style Sew Me Charita dress. The catch was, the fabric had to be from my stash, (insert eye roll). Who set this catch? (looks around), I guess it was me, lol. I have some stuff in the stash that’s a few years old. I know for some of you OG’s that’s…

Is It A Fail? McCalls 7817
What had happen was! You know I have some drama if I start a sentence like that LOL. No, really, what happened was, I wanted to participate in an Instagram sewing challenge highlighting black sewing pattern designers. I went looking through my stash for a pattern made by a black designer. First of all, there are a hand full, out of the hundreds of patterns I have, I had maybe ten that were from people of color (quadruple eye roll). I chose a Khalia Ali’s pattern because I already had it and I wanted something modern from her, I’ll just say that. I also wanted to try an Indi…

Simplicity 8475: Sewing For My Husband
I don’t typically sew for others, why you ask? it’s too much stress and if they don’t wear it, it feels like a waste of time. That’s the negative side of it, but there’s a positive side, there are times when people actually like it and there’s something to be learned. I learned through this process that I wasn’t enjoying the process lol. To have someone else involved was different for me, I like to have creative freedom lol. I felt anxious and rushed, the hubby didn’t know what he wanted and what fabric and all of that so I started working on this later than I’d liked. I wanted…

Pattern Review: New Look 6514-The Robe of Many Colors
I hadn’t participated in the #sewyourview challenge on Instagram in a while so I decided to put to use some cute fabric in my stash to use. I also wanted something fun and different to wear for my birthday so it was a twofer! That feels weird to say, I don’t have a large stash so, to shop in it was a good feeling. I originally made the longer view and in the fabric, it looked like a priestly robe. I did a poll and everyone voted to cut it and I agreed. The pictures aren’t a clear as I’d like, but we get the gist of it. Pattern Description:…

Pattern Review: B5529 + The Dolman sleeve jacket
I’m getting a head start on my Fall sewing. I’ve seen this type of Dolman sleeve open jacket all over the place. This is an older Butterick pattern that’s still in print, yay!!. I’ve seen this pattern in a ton of places in the spring and early fall catalogs, what does that tell you? patterns come back around too! I hate having multiple patterns that are similar unless I learn a new construction technique or it has a cool design feature. So, when I went looking through my patterns for a open easy jacket, I realized I actually purchased a similar pattern from Simplicity recently in addition to this…
