Pac-Man + M7465
Hello! I’m not usually one for nostalgia or novelty prints, but who can pass up a Pac-man inspired print?? I purchased this fabric from Fabric Mart and I really like it, it’s a good mid-weight ITY. My sewing friend from the blog Dressmaking Debacles made this dress a few times and it looked too good for me not to take the pattern out of the donate pile! This is a super old pattern but it’s super cute and comfortable! I will make this again and again because you can’t go wrong with this style of dress. I made view C which is the dolman sleeve pull on dress with elastic…

What I’ve been up to, Tweaking A Basic Bodice And More Slopers
Hi!! Have you missed me? Well, I’ve been here, I’ve done a few things over the last month, I’ll share a little and then I’ll go into what I’m working on now. Since my skirt sloper class, I discovered something, I don’t hate true muslins (LOL) and I haven’t made as many “wearable muslins” as I have in the past. Here’s the issue, I do not like to take out seams and fix issues (insert triple eye roll) so I have to remind myself that true muslins are really practice so I don’t mind fixing them. I have to stop being lazy and take out the seams and fix things,…

Top of the Morning! M720+ Emerald green top
I believe the holidays, seasons, etc are good times to make things specific to that time. I used to bake cookies or make traditional meals during the “holiday” but now, I like to sew something that is representative or captures the spirit of the day. I don’t have much green in my closet so, this was the perfect time to sew something up. I didn’t have anything in the que to sew for St. Patrick’s day but while I was at a big box store I saw all the St. Patty’s day stuff out so a light bulb when off. I wanted to try another view of M7020 so I…

Pattern Review: Burda 6749+ the perfect T-Shirt
I’d like to keep track of all my ” TNT” patterns on the blog in some way. TNT stands for tried and true, and in the spirit of classic, well fitting garments, I will try to identify which patterns work with my normal flat pattern adjustments. If I have to recreate the pattern in every way, the pattern itself wouldn’t be a TNT, in my opinion, but rather a base for your own pattern. I’m not interested in drafting patterns, but I am interested in learning how to identify “good bones” when I look at the technical drawings of a pattern. I pick up patterns that are popular on pattern…

Pattern review: M6884+ THe mock wrap dress
I don’t know why I’m now making this dress but I really like it! I saw Brittany J. Jones’ sew along on YouTube and I didn’t understand how she made six, but now I know. I purchased some Polyester interlock knit from Walmart, with the intention of using it as a muslin. The fabric is semi- opaque and polyester so not breathable but I like the print. I’ve joined a few sewing groups and in one we are sewing florals so this was a good time to try this pattern out. On to the review: Pattern Description: Close-fitting, pullover, mock-wrap dresses have right front variations, tie ends and narrow…

Pattern Review: M7020 + the knit oversized tunic
I pretty late on sewing this pattern. I think there should be a list out there of the top 10 things to sew or some sort of checklist so I don’t miss these tried and true patterns. I find myself going back to the “best of” by year on the Sewing Pattern Review site. As a newer sewer, it’s helpful to look at those patterns, because most of the “bugs” have been worked out and there are usually tutorials, sew a longs or reviews to help. I’m learning what alterations I need to make and how to work those into tissue fittings, but that’s still hit or miss with me.…

Pattern Review: S1072 + patterned knit skirt
Don’t love when your projects look like you did a lot of work? I do, but I have to admit, it’s all in the print. It’s nice to have a fitted lined skirt, but it’s also nice to operate with an elastic waist! I know right, who would have thought that an elastic waist could look so chic? This is my TNT knit skirt pattern and i’m happy I discovered it. There are so many things you can do with this so have fun. Pattern Description: Misses’ Easy to Sew knit pants, skirt and top.
