On trend Shacket: Simplicity 9388
It’s been a while since I’ve blogged one of my makes. I wore a jacket the other day and I know I made it, but I couldn’t remember the pattern or the adjustments, ugh! I started blogging to keep track of what I made and also as a reference for the adjustments and my pattern/fabric likes and dislikes. Over the course of the last year and a half I just haven’t prioritized sewing and or documenting my sewing. That crap stops today LOL, I always tell myself I’ll remember what I did, Lies!!! I will not remember at all! I’ve been buying lots of clothes and not finishing my makes,…

Simplicity 8529 Remake- Toaster Sweater
Since it’s sweater weather, I decided to make an easy quick sweater. The only issue is, I didn’t have any black sweater knits (insert eye roll). I’ve made this sweater before here, but I didn’t like the funnel neckline. I dont really like chokers or funnel necklines, I don’t mind turtlenecks but, anyway I didn’t care for the neckline of the last one so it was purged. It looks totally different in the Ponte knit vs the French terry knit. What I had was Ponte knit and scraps of brushed knit in my stash and one of the recommended fabrics was Ponte knit. Now, the Ponte is fine, but it…

Another Simplicity 1279 in Classic White
Need a necklace I just want to document #3 of Simplicity 1279. This shirt pattern is my boo and I really like the fit. If you follow me on instagram, in my stories I share a lot of how my projects look and my thoughts way before I blog about it. I’ve been on a shirt making kick and, as I work through my wardrobe essentials, this had to made. The only change I’ve made from the this version was adding the button band to the front bodice and leaving off the collar. I used Simplicity 8014 to give me an idea of how I wanted to do that. I…

Simplicity 1279 #2 In Chambray Twill
Ok friends, I’ve adjusted my new TNT button up shirt and I believe this is my favorite. I’ve been thinking if I should adjust the back pattern piece to a princess seam version as well, but I enjoy not having a fitted back so maybe I’ll adjust it later. My front chest measurement extends a little past my armhole so I may tweak that by shaving a little off from my armhole and then possible add a little to the sleeve. I’ll have to think about how I want to make that adjustment. I used a chambray twill shirting I got from FabricMart. I like this fabric because it looks…

My Outfit of the day: Simplicity 8841 and Simplicity 8930
Carolyn takes the best pictures! I love an easy outfit and these two patterns have endless possibilities. As I look for basic things in RTW I can help but tell myself, I can make that! I know, I know, sometimes I just want to buy what I want and others I make it. I wanted wide legged pants but I wasn’t sure how they would look. I didn’t want to look like I was wearing a sack, but I figured, If I make them, I can make them however I want, right? I made these pants at Sew Camp and Carolyn took all the photos! I’ve been seeing pants around…

Finally, Pants! Simplicity 8056 and Another Simplicity 8014
Finally, I finished my pants! Well, I’m happy with the outcome and it was a long time coming. I actually could have finished these like two weeks ago, but apparently me and the embroidery machine have been having a little affair (insert shocked face)! These pants are a wearable muslin, I like wearables because like I’ve said before, I like to wear a garment to work, sit down and stand up to get a good idea of my adjustments. Also, some fabric tends to bag out and then I over correct to fit it and then it’s tight. To remedy that, I try and get quality fabric and not over…

Athleisure for the holiday McCalls 7061
Jeans are RTW. Athleisure seems to be a trend of wearing cloths typically designed as athletic wear for everyday wear. I see no issue with this lol, I mean, secret pajamas, leisurewear, athleisure, comfy, whatever you call it, it’s wearing clothes that are comfortable and stylish right? I’m not above comfort, because truthfully, that’s when I’m happiest! I’m happy when I look and feel good, and when my clothes AND shoes are comfortable. Comfortable shoes are another topic of discussion (insert eye roll). Can clothes be a little too leisurely? perhaps, but if you enjoy wearing work out clothes and the environment is appropriate (this is a thing by the…

Pattern Review: McCalls 7838+ the 80’s and a Victorian Sleeve
Hi there! I have a review for you, this Victorian/80’s inspired sleeve. I didn’t jump on the sleeve trend last year, so I thought I’d try something different this month. I wont bore you with commentary, but I will tell you, this shirt was supossed to be black and ecru (insert triple eye roll), OK, you all know I always have a story to tell! So, what had happen was, I threw an entire bag of clothes in the washing machine without sorting it and without a color catcher!!!!!!!!!!!! BAAWWWW… soo, I’ve been sorting close for like 30 years, what in the ham sandwich possessed me to do that. Pure…

Another Skirt and Vogue 1567 Paco Peralta
Neckline is a little too high for me but this blue is soo me. So, I’m still in skirt mode, I need a few more, because who doesn’t need skirts? I’m in an office environment, but I don’t want to look like an “office worker” so I’m trying to mix things up while keeping professional. I can use color, texture and fabric to style my wardrobe, as long as it’s not too short, too tight and too over the top (whatever that means). I like color and print and I try to break things up for work as not to overwhelm the senses. This is a hard one but what…

See and Sew B6473
This is my new blogger pose, lol! I really like this top! At first, I wanted to make a dress and I’m thinking I may soon! I always look through the see and sew patterns and New Look at Joann’s and Walmart because I’m cheap and I have a pattern problem. Actually, they have a lot of out of print designs, so they are less expensive than ordering from the website. See and Sew have a wide range of sizes and I truthfully think they are Butterick patterns reborn. They are not exactly like their regular Butterick patterns (they change the model and sometimes they adjust the number of views…
