Simplicity 8529 Remake- Toaster Sweater
Since it’s sweater weather, I decided to make an easy quick sweater. The only issue is, I didn’t have any black sweater knits (insert eye roll). I’ve made this sweater before here, but I didn’t like the funnel neckline. I dont really like chokers or funnel necklines, I don’t mind turtlenecks but, anyway I didn’t care for the neckline of the last one so it was purged. It looks totally different in the Ponte knit vs the French terry knit.
What I had was Ponte knit and scraps of brushed knit in my stash and one of the recommended fabrics was Ponte knit. Now, the Ponte is fine, but it doesn’t really feel like a sweater, it feels more like a sweatshirt, which is fine but I think I’ll find some mid-weight sweater knit for another version.
The only adjustments I made was adding two inches to the length of the front and back pattern pieces. I cut the largest size, size XL and surprisingly, the sleeve was ok so I left as is. I may add another inch or so for a slouchier look.
That’s it, a super easy scrap buster. So, last thought, I don’t hate drop shoulders, but I don’t love them either. I know they are obviously easier to sew, but, I don’t know, am I’m being picky now? I just don’t love them. What about you, are you team drop shoulder?

I love that black and animal skin together. I'm in the no dropped shoulder camp. It just looks too slouchy and sized wrong on me.

I agree with the dropped shoulder thing!
