Pattern Review: M7096 + Gored Skirt
Pattern Description:
Semi-Fitted skirt with waistband gores and side zipper. I sewed View A.
Pattern Sizing:
14-22
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, the instructions are clear and straight forward.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Love the ease of the pattern and the gores, gores make for good fitting for the hip area
Fabric Used:
Stretch bottom weight fabric
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
This is a straight forward pattern with a good amount of design ease. Because I used a stretch bottom weight, I didn’t scale up as I usually do. The gores give you options to reduce your seam allowances by 1/4 in so overall you can get a good fit without too much adjustments to the pattern.
Would you sew it again?
Yes, I want to make the pattern in the longer version and with the split.
Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, this is a good beginner pattern that gives experience in straight seams, zippers, and waistband facings.
Cost:
Pattern: $2.00
Fabric: $10 per yard, I used about a yard. Total $10
Notion: Zipper $2
Total: $14.00
Time:
Roughly 2.5 hours
Conclusion:
This is a great skirt pattern that has lots of variations. This is a good beginner pattern that I would highly recommend. I can’t wait to make the longer maxi variation.

Hiya,
I hope you are well and looking after yourself.
I love the garments you are seeing and appreciate your posts.
I’m in Australia and facing a damn hot summer here in Queensland, so I’m going to make McCalls 7096, maybe a few of them.
I just hope they look as good as yours did.
Cheers
