Pattern Review: S1563 + Robe and Pajama pants

My daughter doesn’t ask me to make
her stuff much, and she didn’t ask for this, but when I saw this fabric, during
the holiday, I knew she would love it.  I
don’t do much selfless sewing.  Partly
because it takes a long time to make something, and partly because I don’t want
too: p.  It takes me forever to make
something and if it takes that long, I want to wear it.  I’m very sensitive about my stuff, if the person
wearing my handmade item doesn’t like it and doesn’t pay for it, that irritates
me.  Soo, to avoid all of that, I just
sew for myself.  I know, selfish.  But, for Christmas, everyone who came by, I had to make them pajama pants, it was a hit and everyone loved it!

Pattern Description:
Misses’, men’s and teens’ knit tops in short sleeve V-neck tee or pull on
scoop neck tank top. Also includes pull on shorts and pants with elastic waist
and bathrobe. Simplicity sewing pattern.
I made view A & View D.

Pattern Sizing:
XS-XL, I made a Medium

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were
done sewing with it?

Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?

No dislikes really, just not
sure if I like the way the neckband/ front edge is attached, I think
there can be an easier way to do that for the robe. One pattern piece
for the Pants, quick sew, but no pockets.

Fabric Used:
Sushi printed flannel and snuggle flannel contrast pieces from Joann’s for view A (robe),Christmas print fleece from fabric Mart for View D (Pajama pants)

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I cut a medium, but I should have cut a small as I had to take in the sleeve
and side seams an inch on each side to get to fit properly (robe).  For the pajama pants, I made slight adjustments to the hem for each person I made them for and slight rise decrease for the teens (pants).

Would you sew it again?
Not sure, I would make a robe again, I think I will find another way to
attach the neckband, maybe use one of the methods from the cardigan/sweater
patterns, I have made the pajama pants and they are also an easy sew with two
pattern pieces.  Most people want pockets in pajama pants so not sure if I will use this pattern again.  Overall quick sew, but I
think the robe can be faster if you modify the neckband process.

Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, it is quick sew, for the robe, try the directions for attaching the
neckband, to see if you like it, if not just modify.  For the pants, I would recommend measuring
the front and back crotch lengths, and adjust the pattern if need be for
women/teens.  I found that the front
crotch length was about 2 inch too long for all sizes (especially the males and
teens) those with a bit of a belly, this was ok.  RTW
pajama pants are more low rise with a front rise of about 7 inches, I calculate
the front rise of these @ 11inches (I made a pair for my family for Christmas
day and everyone wore a different size) the back crotch length was on average, an
inch to inch and a half too short for the ladies I made this for.
