Pattern Review: V9021- Revamped
I’m a firm believer in doing things right. So, I went back through some of my reviews to figure out if I could improve on them before moving on to new patterns. Some patterns where hard for me, but now after a little practice, they don’t seam so scary. Also, with using the forums on Pattern review, I’ve learned a lot about fitting and how to be happy with what I’ve made. So, this pattern is one of the first I reviewed. My biggest mistake was not finishing it and figuring out what the problem was, I chalk that up to inexperience. The next mistake was putting the dress on…

Pattern Review: M7131 + Gauchos
I’d like to say I’m fearless, but I’m not. When it comes to what I wear, I try to find the most flattering things to make and wear, not necessarily what will make me look “smaller”. I think secretly we all want to look smaller or fitter than we actually are, well I do at least. I was hesitant about this pattern for that reason. Gauchos are pretty trendy and I tend to stick to a more classic silhouette that hugs the curves and not add additional bulk to my lower half or any half! The only thing I don’t like about any flowy type pants/shorts is, well, you see……

Pattern Review: S1421+ #TBCSewalong
As I patiently awaited the results of the plus size contest on Sewing Pattern Review, I kept shuffling threw my patterns to see what I wanted to sew next. Ughh, I keep buying patterns, but I can only sew so fast and I feel like I’m being over taken! While cruising Facebook, one of the bloggers I follow was having a sew along for a blazer. Yay, something already in my stash and one of my favorite items of clothing. One of the reasons I start sewing was to learn how to alter my fitted blazers, so this was perfect. For more info on the sew along, check out…

Pattern Review: V9075 The little pattern that could
I’ve been eyeing this pattern for a while, so when one of my Facebook groups chose it as a sew along, I was happy. As a beginner I almost didn’t sew this up, because I had to do an FBA on princess seams, which I’ve never done and line a bodice. I’m happy I tried it and, I’m happy with the results although it’s still not perfect. I learned a lot about fitting, princess seams, reading muslins etc. Pattern Description: Dress or jumpsuit has close-fitting, lined bodice with princess seams, side pockets, stitched hem and back zipper. Wide-legged, pleated pants or Dress variations. I made view A Pattern Sizing: 14-22…

Pattern Review: Lindy Petal Skirt from Itch to Stitch **Free Pattern**
When I get frustrated with a pattern, I try and step away and work on something else to boost my confidence. I’m working on a dress that has princess seams and I need to do a FBA. I did a muslin, tissue fit and all, and it’s still wonky. While in one of my Facebook sewing groups, someone posted a link to this free pattern. I’d never worked with a PDF pattern, but it said easy and FREE so I saved it. This is my “wearable” muslin and review. Pattern Description: Lindy Petal Skirt is a simple knit pencil skirt with an elastic waistband. It features two overlapping curved front…

Pattern Review: S1653 my inner DVF
Hi All, I’m on a role, here’s a pattern review for a wrap dress. I channeled my inner DVF and got to it. I am making this again in a nicer fabric, but I think I may want to adjust the pleated wrap portion of the bodice. The wrap dress is truly a flattering dress for all women, regardless of size/shape. Fabric: ITY Jersey from Fabric.com Pattern Description: Misses & Plus Size Amazing Fit knit dress in knee or calf length, surplice front with ties & 3/4, cap or flutter sleeves. Individual patterns for slim, average & curvy fit & B, C, D cup sizes for miss & C-DD…
