DIY Fanny Pack- Annie Pack Review
I’ve been looking around for a waist purse, fanny pack , whatever you want to call it for a few weeks. I knew I wanted to make something so I went on the hunt for a pattern. My first choice is big four when looking for patterns because there’s always a sale and I’m cheap frugal. I purchased a McCall’s pattern, but the directions were confusing and it didn’t get good reviews. I’m not really a purse maker so I need a bit of hand holding and when I need hand holding I go Indie. I tend to carry too much stuff in my purse thus hurting my shoulder, I…

Day and Night Dress Challenge 2018
Day and Night Challenge I was super excited when Elizabeth from Elizabeth made this asked me to be a guest blogger for this year’s Day and night challenge. This was such a fun challenge, and there’s a host of bloggers and vloggers that will be guest blogging and sharing their fabulous dresses on Elizabeth’s blog. Do you want to read about the dresses I used for both my looks? check out my guest blog post . There’s also a community challenge and I’m thinking of making some more dresses for this too. I mean, every women that wears dresses will either wear a casual dress or a work/ cocktail/…

Pattern Review: Burda 6785 The Purple Dress
I’ve been sewing through my ITY knits, if you’ve been reading, you remember I purchased a bunch of it as a newbie sewist. I love the print on ITY and I really like dresses that show off my shape without being too tight. I like to look classy, not cheap and to me, lightweight ITY stretched to it’s limit can look cheap IMO. I’ve been hanging out with some ladies from my local Red Hat Society, and let me tell you, these ladies know how to have a good time! I’m considered a “Pinkie” since I’m under 50 yrs old and really, they have way more fun than I…

Pattern review: New Look 6411
I’ve been wanting to make this dress since I picked the pattern up a few months ago, my idea was to make this in a ponte knit, the zippers caught my eye. I didn’t realize the potential of this dress as a basic design that can be modified, it was all in the zippers for me. The dress doesn’t have a lot of shaping through the waist but it doesn’t have weird drag lines either so it turned out great. I really like the way it looks, the snake print is different and the zippers give a bit of edge. My goal was to work on more separates, but I’m…

Wide legged pants with a surprise McCalls 7547
I love a little surprise, and I have one with these pants. One of my goals for 2018 is to make pants without elastic at the waist. Now, there’s nothing wrong with pull on pants, but I want to learn how to fit trousers and jeans too. Here’s one of the pants fitting resources I used from Closet Case Patterns. I made these at the end of January and I was only sewing from my stash when I made these so I had to improvise. I don’t have much bottom weight fabric in my stash and no denim, I did have piece of stretch denim so I used this. I’m…

Work out gear McCalls 7482
The start of the New Year and getting healthy is on a lot of people’s mind. It’s on my mind and although I’ve made active wear before, you can see the post here, I wanted to try it again. I’m pretty comfortable when exercising cotton t-shirt and compression leggings. I really like to get outside, the fresh air is always nice. When it gets cold, I like a jacket to throw on over my work out clothes, something that I don’t mind sweating in. About the fabric, I’ve used the black compression knit before here and the scuba knit is a remnant from this dress. I’m sewing from my stash…

Cashmerette Appleton Review and Help With My Coffee Dress
I’m very surprised I haven’t made this dress yet! In my defense, I have so many patterns and I love them all, I do forget what I have until I get inspired and start sifting through the pattern bin. This is a possible contender for my day/coffee dress for the Day and night Dress Challenge hosted by Elizabeth Made this. I love wrap dresses, well dresses period and I really enjoy making them. I’ve learned a lot about fitting and fabric so I hope my dresses will get more wear an not end up in the donate pile. I purchased a few yards of ITY before Hancock’s closed, because ITY…

Wow, It’s been an amazing sewing year! Gillian at Crafting A Rainbow has hosted Top 5 for a few years and I just saw it on Instagram. I thought, what a fun way to highlight my top 5 sewing makes. I did the #bestnine on Instagram as that’s based on likes, but for my top 5, I’ll based that on blog post views. As I reflect on 2017 looking forward to 2018 I know there are a few things I want to learn, and some things I want to do so, let’s jump right in! Hits: Everyone loves a pattern remake. I think this is how things become tried and…

DIY Helmut Lang Inspired sweatshirt McCalls 7688
Hi there! This is the last garment of the year for me so I thought, why not make it twice? This pattern was picked as a part of an Instagram monthly challenge #Sewyourview with @thatsewmonica and @feesewcrafty. I don’t know how I’m gonna follow them next year if I go on a pattern fast, I think I need to slow down on the patterns! I have way too many, I think I’m at the point where I need to start modifying some of these patterns, but then when they’re a dollar why modify? I still have to store the modified version unless I modify it on the fabric? I don’t…
