April Round-Up All the tops
Hi! Soo, I’ve made a few tops lately and I’ve posted them to Instagram, why? I was on vacation and in vacation prep mode and I forgot to write my blog posts. I’m back from vacation and trying to catch up. I got to see a sew friend while in Barbados and she took me to the fabric stores! How cool is that? I only purchased a piece of Ankara that my husband has taken for himself, guess I’ll be making him a tunic, sooner, rather than later. I also purchased a scuba knit boarder print so I’ll show you these pieces when I sew them up. I didn’t have…

Simplicity 8014 The Classic Shirt Dress
The belt really added a nice modern touch to the dress, animal print shoes, yes! I’ve had this dress made for like two weeks and didn’t get any photos taken. I’m usually not busy on the weekends, but these last few have been busy and I didn’t get my photos taken. Ohh, then it was raining, I really could have taken pictures inside, but I want to be outside in the sunshine. Dress without the belt, and it has pockets!!! I went through the instructions in my insta-stories on Instagram. I think it was easier to show my frustration with some of the instructions because you can see…

Cashmerette Concord T-Shirt Hack Round 2
Hi there! Don’t judge me, but this fabric was purchased to be a valentines day dress! Hello, it’s April! Hey, you promised not to judge! I’m not a new sewist, but I’m new at buying fabric for my “stash”. I pretty much try to look at what I want to make and purchase fabric. This can be expensive because you don’t always find what you need on sale. So then I changed my mind, ughh, fabric with no purpose. I knew for valentines day that I didn’t want pink or red, but a print so I went with this Floral print. Floral prints are always in right, so yeah, I…

Simplicity 8612 – Ashley Nell Tipton Wrap Skirt
It’s not as warm as you would think it is, but looking at this outfit, can you tell I’m ready for spring? I took this skirt to sew camp and this is one of the two projects I completed over that weekend. This is a wearable muslin, anytime I make a garment the first time, for me it’s a wearable muslin. I’m not a fan of muslin fabric because I need to sit and move around in my garment before I make it in a really nice fashion fabric. I’m not necessarily a ruffles person, I don’t know why, but like lace, I have to be in the mood to…

Sew Camp Recap Spring 2018
Sign from the B&B welcoming everyone Hi!! I want to share with you my experiences from the Sew Camp I attended at the Carriage Corner B&B. I’m usually a picture person but, I was having such a great time, I rarely picked up my phone. That is not common for me, I stay on my phone/ social media, this weekend was more than I could have hoped for! With social media and the internet, we make connections with people all across the world with similar interest, but there is nothing like meeting in person! I’m an introvert, but I’m very social, I know right, weird. I’m not anti-social, but I…

Pinterest Interest Using McCalls 7723 and Mccalls 7726
As a part of my monthly sewing, I scope out a bunch of challenges on Facebook and Instagram. For this month, I’ve looked to Pinterest for inspiration for the Sew Much Talent Facebook Group and That Sew Monica’s sew your view challenges. Between Facebook and Instagram, I’m always challenged and inspired to make something. I chose this look because it’s much different than anything I’ve sewn and or worn. I’m pretty boring in my everyday wardrobe, I’m a jeans and T-shirt girl and in the summer cool dresses. For work, I keep it conservative ish and if you’ve seen my Instagram feed, on the weekends, I’m super casual (urban lumberjack!).…

Battle of the FBA’s- Ogden Cami
Pivot and Slide FBA with no adjustments to the waist and hip. No pulling at center front I know I’m late with this make, but I wanted a nice cami that had feminine details and the True Bias Ogden cami fit the bill. After looking for reviews, I saw a few with FBA’s and some plus size bodies so that was good. I decided to give it a try and see which FBA would look the best. I took a lot of mirror selfies so we can see the differences, these are muslin’s so I didn’t feel like pulling out the tripod, so yeah, this is what we got! Ohh,…

DIY Tunic Dress Vogue 9159
OMG, this dress is from last month and it never got photographed! I had every intention of writing a Valentines day post with all these options to include what I was going to wear, clearly that didn’t happen! I’m sorry, I really don’t know what happened with that, planning consumes me and I was knee deep in planning for the Day and Night dress challenge and some other projects. The weather wasn’t that great so I’m working on getting an area in the house to take pictures at any time of the day. . This is a cute dress perfect for a night out on the town. One of the…

DIY Red Gingham Top McCalls 7687
This top was on my list of things to make and then one of my Facebook groups had this pattern as a monthly challenge. These challenges are great to help you sharpen your skills and they also help you step outside of your comfort zone. I call this my picnic table top, the gingham and the red, yeah! I made this thing work and I really like it after I put it on and styled it. Princess seams are sometimes avoided but this top is really cool because they are in the back and the front which is great for getting a good fit. I’m not in Kansas, but I…
