Pattern Review: S1072 + patterned knit skirt
Don’t love when your projects look like you did a lot of work? I do, but I have to admit, it’s all in the print. It’s nice to have a fitted lined skirt, but it’s also nice to operate with an elastic waist! I know right, who would have thought that an elastic waist could look so chic? This is my TNT knit skirt pattern and i’m happy I discovered it. There are so many things you can do with this so have fun. Pattern Description: Misses’ Easy to Sew knit pants, skirt and top. Dress up a simple sweatshirt with contrasting fabric in sequins or add jewels or…

Pattern Review: S1461 + The floral princess
Picking the right floral print can be tricky for me sometimes. Do I want a large print or small, do I want realistic looking flowers or no? The options are endless, but very common for spring and summer. One of my pet peeves is fit, and I love tunics because they are comfy, but sometimes you can step over into “ill fitted”. I wanted something that was semi fitted and would look good after wearing it all day. I found what I was looking for in this multi cup sized tunic pattern. I see so many possibilities with this, but I also see some issues. Read on… Pattern Description: Misses’/…

Pattern Review: Sorbetto by Colette + On the bandwagon+Revamp
This pattern is sort of a rite of passage for sewist. I tried it to see for myself what the fuss is/was about and I must admit, it’s a keeper! I don’t know if I would say it’s a “TNT” pattern, but it’s free and it’s a tank so what’s there not to like? This is my second go round, my first go round with the Sorbetto was a disaster. I read somewhere that the pattern was drafted for a C cup so I didn’t do a bust adjustment (I didn’t know how at the time) and I just jumped right in and cut my fashion fabric, ughh! Me and…

Pattern Review: M6886 + The everything knit dress x 2
I know some of these patterns have been around forever, but I just sew enjoy discovering the patterns that EVERYONE loves. There are some patterns that just do no wrong and this is one of them. An easy knit with variations and easy construction. I know it’s a bit lazy, but I also enjoy these patterns because all the “bugs” have been worked out of them. You see so many variations, so many sizes, and shapes wearing them, they are like wrap dresses, they look good on everyone. I try to add something fresh and new to each pattern, but with this one, I made it as is and didn’t…

Pattern Review: V9084+ Hot Pink Peplum
I love a pop of color and Hot pink is so girly to me. I originally purchased this pattern before doing my research (checking sewing Pattern Review). No one reviewed it and I couldn’t find anything on it, I almost freaked out! What was I thinking, a beginner taking on a pattern with no cup sizing and a zipper?? I used the left over fabric from my awesome blazer to work this pattern. I chose something with some lycra in the event that it would be too tight eekk!!! lol This is a wearable muslin also because the fabric was flawed and i’m trying to use it up. Pattern…

Pattern Review: V9021- Revamped
I’m a firm believer in doing things right. So, I went back through some of my reviews to figure out if I could improve on them before moving on to new patterns. Some patterns where hard for me, but now after a little practice, they don’t seam so scary. Also, with using the forums on Pattern review, I’ve learned a lot about fitting and how to be happy with what I’ve made. So, this pattern is one of the first I reviewed. My biggest mistake was not finishing it and figuring out what the problem was, I chalk that up to inexperience. The next mistake was putting the dress on…

Pattern Review: M7131 + Gauchos
I’d like to say I’m fearless, but I’m not. When it comes to what I wear, I try to find the most flattering things to make and wear, not necessarily what will make me look “smaller”. I think secretly we all want to look smaller or fitter than we actually are, well I do at least. I was hesitant about this pattern for that reason. Gauchos are pretty trendy and I tend to stick to a more classic silhouette that hugs the curves and not add additional bulk to my lower half or any half! The only thing I don’t like about any flowy type pants/shorts is, well, you see……

Pattern Review: S1421+ #TBCSewalong
As I patiently awaited the results of the plus size contest on Sewing Pattern Review, I kept shuffling threw my patterns to see what I wanted to sew next. Ughh, I keep buying patterns, but I can only sew so fast and I feel like I’m being over taken! While cruising Facebook, one of the bloggers I follow was having a sew along for a blazer. Yay, something already in my stash and one of my favorite items of clothing. One of the reasons I start sewing was to learn how to alter my fitted blazers, so this was perfect. For more info on the sew along, check out…

Pattern Review: Butterick 5466 + My first ever garment & Craftsy class
I looked through my closet for something me made to wear today and I stumbled upon this skirt. Oh, the nostalgia of my first ever skirt! I took a Craftsy class and really, really enjoyed being walked through each step of the process. I’ve made another in a different view and I will show pictures when I can get them taken. I’d have to say that this skirt is my “TNT” skirt pattern because it’s my first and it’s so very basic. I’ve made the high waisted pencil skirt and this skirt. I followed all the directions for finishing seams/edges and I took my time with the zipper. My reward…
