Cashmerette Holyoke Dress
Yay for the Holyoke! I finished the dress almost two weeks ago, but you know I didn’t have any buttons right? (insert triple eye roll). Anyway, I don’t know if you remember my ramblings from a few posts ago, but I’m on a “patterns that don’t come in my size fast” (insert eye roll). So, I’m not loosing anything on my fast, but yet spending my resources and time on those that fit. Also, I think it’s igniting my creative juices! I really like the dress, having straps that hide my bra and having a no gaping neckline are the best! stretched the front neckline out putting it on a…

Sleeveless Pembroke Dress
Here’s another make from Sew camp. I love the Pembroke dress, and the fabric is from the FabricMart brick and mortar. This fabric is a double knit/lace overlay knit, I brought this back to the B &B from our FabricMart trip and I it was really easy to sew. I enjoyed getting the pictures taken in this all around the B&B, Thanks Carolyn! In my haste to make this, I forgot to do a broad shoulder adjustment (insert eye roll). I had a Tim Gunn moment and made this work! The shoulder was way too short, so I made a design decision, I didn’t have enough fabric to recut soo,…

My Outfit of the day: Simplicity 8841 and Simplicity 8930
Carolyn takes the best pictures! I love an easy outfit and these two patterns have endless possibilities. As I look for basic things in RTW I can help but tell myself, I can make that! I know, I know, sometimes I just want to buy what I want and others I make it. I wanted wide legged pants but I wasn’t sure how they would look. I didn’t want to look like I was wearing a sack, but I figured, If I make them, I can make them however I want, right? I made these pants at Sew Camp and Carolyn took all the photos! I’ve been seeing pants around…

Sew Camp and My Trip to FabricMart
This isn’t all of it, most of had boxes shipped LOL. Soooo, I just came back from Sew Camp at the Carriage Corner B&B. I had a fantastic time, there were so many great women there, some I know and others I’ve come to know. I arrived on Thursday, had a cheese steak in Philly and sewed until Monday afternoon. I was prepared this time, I did good ya’ll, I was begging for fabric to sew because I sewed all mine up LOL. I stayed in the Dahlia, it’s a fantastic room as all the rooms are and Gaylen and Jay took such good care of us! I will say,…

DIY Dress Simplicity 8912
I think prom sewing broke the sewjo, I’m not sure LOL but I believe I’m getting it back. I’m looking through my closet and trying to identify gaps. I have a need for tops and dresses, wait, I thought I had enough of both, but I have a lot of T-shirts, I think I need more work appropriate tops. So, why didn’t I make any tops (insert triple eye roll)? I’m thinking of cropping this pattern and making a top, I’ve spent a lot of time on it so I mind as well, right? Why didn’t I make some tops tho? Dunno, I didn’t feel like it, lol. I love…

Pattern Review: Simplicity 8908
I am determined to make these shoes work LOL. It’s been a while since i’ve done a “pattern review”, I think it’s because I’ve evolved a bit in how I chronicle my makes. I was very specific before because I was still learning. At this point, I make notes on the blog and pattern of what I’ve done so I haven’t felt the need to give an “official review”. And Instagram makes it easy not to (I’m trying not to fall in this trap). I haven’t sewn much this month, I’ve been doing other stuff and I’m totally ok with that. I’ve been a very prolific sewer in the last…

Cashmerette Ellis Skirt
Mashup of the Springfield top and an OOP dress pattern I purchased the Ellis skirt when it came out and I was super excited to sew this up. I don’t have any denim skirts in my closet, handmade by me or RTW so this was fun. I actually don’t have much denim and I’m not sure why not, I just don’t sew it up much. Actually, you can read about my “just do it” campaign for Sew Brave Sewcialists theme month over on the Sewcialists blog. I went into why I haven’t sewn much denim LOL! I really like this skirt, I like both views for the skirt a lot. …

I sewed a prom dress: Simplicity 8328
Here in the US, it’s prom season, a sort of right of passage for teenage girls and boys, it’s an end of year celebration so to speak. Folks take this thing seriously, the not quite adults have an opportunity to dress up, hang out with their friends, dance and whatever else happens at prom. I’ve done this before, prom that is with my oldest son. It was super easy, we went to the Men’s Warehouse, rented a tuxedo and shoes and stopped by the florist, took about two hours and I was so happy. Welp, I have a daughter so, yeah, I tried the whole Rent The Runway thing and…

Butterick 6621 and Belle
Me and Belle 🥰 When I saw this dress on IG, I thought, what a nice looking dress, you can thank KS_Sews for this! There are a few things I like and a few things I will change. I also have lots of pics with the family dog and some real background pics. So, what do I like? I really like the shape of this, it has a center back seam, a slight swing to the hem and cute ties. When I made view b with view a’s sleeves and I cut the largest size, size 22 (insert eye roll). It would be nice if this came in a larger…

Sewing round up March-19 Ediition
Well, I’ve been busy! I’ve sewn a few things over the last week or sew, but most of these item’s I’ve sewn before and one was a TNT so it really didn’t take long to make this weeks garments. I typically do not have time to sew this many things (did I neglect something else?), probably! The boss politely reminded me that we have to finish our taxes. I’m a reformed tax accountant that hates doing her own taxes! I know I have to pay, so it can wait till whenever (not really whenever, because I don’t do penalties) but you know what I mean! Anyway, there are a few…
